Drumming

DRUMS FOR FUN simply 'happened' into being back in 1992 when my friend, Wilda, gave me my first drum made from a Grater's Ice Cream container. I spent the summer painting Hopi Indian designs on both sides. This was my initiation into drumming. Dick, Jim and I have been hosting this drumming circle once a month for all these years. We have so many drums, really neat ones ... like African djembes, djun-djuns, frame drums, balifon, ashikas, congas, dumbeks, lots of bells, shakers and more. Come on over and pound the skins with us. Shake, rattle and roll!

This is me with my very first drum ... made from that Grater's ice-cream container. And here's one of the Hopi Indian paintings I did in the hope of initiating myself into drumming. I think it worked! You can see how tranced out and happy drumming makes me.

My dear friend, Wilda Tanner gave this drum ... my very first!
