My Model of Spiritual Reality
CHERRI BROWN
Develop my own model regarding my transpersonal identity: A challenge that is difficult to say the least, because I find it hard to express my feelings due to my inability to understand them easily. Nevertheless, a positive challenge. I must keep reminding myself to stay focused; this is the best way for me to improve and become one with the universe.
It is my simplistic belief that we all have good within us. Our bodies are but a hourse for our soul. Our soul (recognized in my drawing by love, or a heart) is our connection with God. When we begin using our heart (soul) to control our brain we are beginning the trip to oneness with God. So many people use their brain without involving the soul. I believe this happens because it is easier, faster, and safer than contemplating with our soul and then thinking through an action or decision. It can also be frightening and intimidating trying to understand our transpersonal identity because we have not been taught to think that way. As a house with a soul, it is our obligation to pursue our identity in whatever fashion we feel necessary. Fact, theory, coincidence, imaginary? Fact, when working in this field can be arbitrary. Howevere, it si not capricious when one is having an experience.
As some of you may recall, one area in which I have experiences is ÒcommunicatingÓ with animals. When I say I ÒcommunicateÓ it is not the ÒnormalÓ way of communication we think of. It is a sensation I have when something is occuring. It is the Ògut feelingÓ I experience and it is up to me to take this feeling and run with it, expand it and take it to a higher plane. Measure this?
Those of us studying in this area are forced to do our own mental traveling to arrive at our own conclusions and prove them in firsthand experiences, moving opposite to almost all customary thoughts of relationships between the two species. The only way I know of is to record experiences, usually after the fact when I have something tangible to record. Experiences like this are beiing measured (recorded) by many ohters both ÒprofessionalÓ and Ònon professionalÓ people.* My belief is it requires three things:
( being aware of my feelings without ÒimaginingÓ them
( piecing together feelings beforehand and actions after the feelings have shown themselves
( learning to nurture my psyche as I would myself
Stepping out and actively becoming aware can be a scary step. What do I do with these feelings once I have recognized them? Piecing together these feelings with action that has taken place can be difficult as I do not want to create instances just for the sake of having something tangible to record. Maybe number three above should be number one, if they are to be listed in the order of relative substance. Learning to nurture my psyche as I would nurture myself is difficult in that I do not do a real good job of nurturing myself yet.
The ÒcommunicatingÓ I do with animals is not a one way bridge. We, as humans must look to all other life form as equals at the very least. When we can accept that we are equals it forms a platform connceting us and allowing our thoughts to flow freely. J. Allen Boone in ÒKinship With All LifeÓ states that in communicating with animals he had to learn to never permit anything but his best thoughts to cross the bridge to the animal and he is sure the animal did likewise. Mr. Boone felt when he regarded the animal kingdon as equal or quperior to himself it left him wide open to receive and send thoughts back and forth.
Referring back to my drawing . . . the entire illustration relates to the universe of God. The heart represents our soul and above it it sht brain, crossed out. I do not mean the brain is worthless and unusable. What I do want to show is a relationship between the soul and the brain. They must work together. The heart and soul in all its virtue will mean nothing without some thought behind it. Thought exhibiting the way the human should travel.
The brain is useless without the soul. Yes, the brain will function and is a highly technical organ. However, for the brain to produce good thoughts and situations, the soul must be behind it. Therrefore, the two must work cohesively together. Onece this has begun, the individual has begun the journey to oneness.
As illustrated in my drawing this journey can and must travel several roads. All dealing with physical objects to the human eye, but underlined with spiritual oneness; animal, dreams, environment, human and plant. the listing of the physical objects in in no specific order other than alphabetical. No one area is anymore significant than another. It just happens that I connected with the animal life before any other form.
IÕd like to quote Mr. Boone from ÒKinship With All LifeÓ when he referred to the first animal he ever connected with and grew with when he stated ÒHe forced me to realize that the making and breaking instrument in all my contacts with him was my own thinking, my own state of mind, my own inner attitude. Not his thinking or his state of mind or his inner attitude - but mine. I saw that I was primarily responsible for whatever happened in our relationship, and that the responsibility lay no so much in what I said or did, but in what I really was up to menatlly.Ó
I strongly believe that we must keep our thought waves on the positive and ÒupÓ side. Imagine two humans who are able to establish a connection of two-way thoughts characterizing perfect harmony between the two. By allowing and encouraging this to happen we will find ourselves in motion into harmony with all living things and moving on to a oneness with the univeerse. If we only communicate good thoughts, happy thoughts, positive thoughts we can only encourage positive experiences.
I feel the experience I am having in communicating with animals is only the tip of the iceberg. As I continue to explore this communication I anticipate it to blossom, I am and will continue to travel to different levels of my drawing. I occasionally experience inner feelings of myself (regarding health) and other people (apart from the animal realm). To a point, I classify these feelings under Òdreams.Ó Another word may possbily be ÒvisionsÓ because I usually am not sleeping, but may slip into ÒdaydreamingÓ. As I can deepen my experiences it will only broaden my visions.
