Laws of Success are Laws of Spirituality

Success is good. Living life in abundance is a manifestation of success. Spirituality and success need not oppose one another, but actually can be linked. The key to a successful life is to live in harmony with the spiritual laws that govern creation, says Deepak Chopra. In his book, The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success (New World Library), he outlines seven spiritual principles of creative manifestation. If we live in harmony with these laws, we live in harmony with the creative intelligence of the universe. In so doing, we are free to live and manifest abundantly, just as does life itself, while simultaneously fulfilling our purpose for manifesting in the first place.

These seven laws are:

1) The law of pure potentiality: The core, essential nature of creation is consciousness or spirit. Our spiritual nature is creative consciousness, with infinite potential. Meditation or practicing the presence is how to apply this law.

2) The law of giving and receiving: Nothing is static, everything is in a state of flux or change. Circulation and exchange are the fundamental processes of the universe. Give what you wish to attract.

3) The law of karma or cause and effect: Every action is a cause that generates an effect which we ourselves will experience. This law reminds us of the importance of our choices. We can assess our choices by attuning to the reaction in our body. A right choice that brings happiness to all causes a feeling of comfort in our body. We can transmute negative effects by learning from them and putting that knowledge to good use. Karma thus becomes evolutionary in its impact.

4) The law of least effort: The creative intelligence of nature operates with love and harmony. Thus, it is effortless. Act out of love and you can do less, yet accomplish more. Accept things as they are, assume creative responsibility for things as they are, yet be open to a variety of viewpoints concerning the present moment. Opportunity will always be present.

5) The law of intention and desire: Where you put your attention at the present moment and to what you form your intention with regard to the future determine what is created. Intention organizes the energy of the universe. Desire is intention with attachment. Attachment weakens intention by focusing on a specific form of the outcome.

6) The law of detachment: Intention without attachment is very powerful. This special combination places you in uncertainty, which is the realm of all possibilities, pure potentiality, the Self. Detachment allows us to discover that solutions effortlessly emerge out of problems.

7) The law of dharma or purpose in life: You have manifested for a purpose. You have something you can do better than anyone else--be yourself. When your unique talents can be directed toward meeting needs, you create affluence. Part of your purpose for manifesting is to discover that you are spirit. When you express your talent in your unique way, you flow into an awareness of Spirit. When that talent is used to answer the question, "How can I help?" you have found the spiritual secret of success.
