Fall Convocation, November 8, 2008

Virginia Beach, Virginia

Six students presented at our fall convocation. About 75 people were in attendance in the audience, including faculty, staff, former and current students, graduates and their families and friends. Photos of the presenters are shown here, with links to an audio (.mp3 file ... just click on the student's picture to hear their presentation) of each graduate's presentation. Only their 20 minute formal presentation was recorded, not the 40 minute interaction each graduate had with the faculty and audience following the presentation. To check to see if their complete culminating project has been posted, go to http://www.creativespirit.net/learners/AUCulminatingProjects/ Next spring's convocation is set for June 6, 2009.

Mark Thurston, Ph.D., Dean of Faculty, introduces the proceedings. "This is not a 'thesis defense,' but a friendly sharing among interested colleagues. We'll have 20 minutes for the graduate to present, 20 minutes for the faculty to engage the student in conversation, and then 20 minutes for the audience to converse with the presenter."
