The Path to Inner Wisdom
We often call it a hunch, gut feeling or 'knowing' what is about to happen. It surprises us with its accuracy. It is intuition. Patricia Einstein, in her book, Intuition, the Path to Inner Wisdom (Element Books), shows us that it is our greatest natural resource, an inner reference book.
We most commonly use linear thought to "figure things out." Intuition is non-linear thought and creeps in when we least expect it. Let's jog our intuition now. Sit quietly, close your eyes and watch the flow of your breath. Neither block out thoughts nor focus on them. Visualize light flowing through your seven psychic centers. Watch your light connect with the universal flow. Record the thoughts that come to you each time you try this meditation.
Before ironing, walking, or any repetitive activity, simply say "I'm opening to my intuition. Ideas are flowing to me now." Having a specific issue is optional. You will get surprising insights. Add these to your intuition journal.
A critical aspect of intuitive development is positive affirmation. Affirmations from childhood, often externally imposed, helped shape your present outlook. You may have been told you were too pretty to be smart. Now you can create your own affirmations, such as, "I am awakening to my own inner wisdom."
Visualization is a form of affirmation. Get comfortable and relax into the flow of your breath. Visualize a place you have contemplated going. Now, put yourself in the picture. What are you doing? What major positive events occur? Do you encounter problems? How do you resolve them? Record these impressions in your journal. You may discover that in this exercise you have intuited situations that are likely to happen if current trends are allowed to develop.
Here's another way to put intuition to work. Discovering your life's mission is as easy as creating a waking dream. Relax completely. Visualize a place of peaceful solitude. Affirm that you are uncovering your life's purpose. What images come? Add them to your journal. Next, look at dreams and synchronistic events over several weeks. Evaluate the data you've collected. Does it resonate with long- held or forgotten dreams? Does it make sense? If so, use it!
The more we use our intuitive insights, the easier it is to live daily, moment to moment, intuitively. Our insights become clearer, we can anticipate coming events, and our intuitive reactions are more adaptive. (Digest by VirDella Dinwiddie.)
